HouseSmarts "Home Maintenance Checklist
We know you take pride in your investment. We’re here today to talk about some quick and easy maintenance tips that you can do to maintain the beauty of your home.
We’re going to talk about the hood vent. Essentially, the more you cook, more grease gets built up in the hood vent, and it would cut down on the life expectancy of the fan that’s up in there. So there's louvers here that you need to pull down.
You get a little grease buildup on either side, and you simply take them to the sink, clean them with regular dish soap, dry them, and then put it back in place. I’d suggest doing this once a month. Anybody that’s got a guest bathroom that doesn’t get used very often, we want to prevent the fixtures from breaking down over time or sewer odors coming up into the bathroom.
What happens is, there's a trap underneath the sink, and the trap holds water. Over time, that water will evaporate. Come in once a week and turn on the faucet, flush the toilet, run the water in the tub for a minute. We all love these big, beautiful windows in the Toll Brothers homes. Over time, you tend to get buildup on the track, and you’ll get this window binding up and making the window a little noisy. This maintenance tip is really simple.
It’s a matter of cleaning this track with a damp cloth and spraying the track with a silicone lubricant. Doing this once every six months, you’ll find that these windows roll better, and they sound a lot better. It’s as simple as that. It’ll keep your home looking like it was when you bought it.
